"Operations and Supply Chain Management: How to Build Competitive Advantages"

On Tuesday & Wednesday June 30th & July 1st of 2009, Dr. Victor Araman presented a workshop on the topic of Operations and Supply Chain Management. The workshop which was held at Holiday Inn Hotel, Dunes Center- Verdun, focused on a small number of powerful themes that have emerged recently as the central building blocks of world-class operations and supply systems.

Dr. Araman discussed operations strategy, and how building the "right" capabilities are critical nowadays to make the difference in a competitive environment. He then moved to discuss the business process approach to management highlighting manufacturing process selection and design.

In the second part of the workshop, focus was on the concepts of supply chain management starting with designing the supply strategy to managing strategic capacity to lean production and JIT. Through this discussion some inventory management policies were introduced and analyzed. The workshop was based on lectures, theme discussions, case studies examples and Videos. It hosted 25 participants from different companies and backgrounds who gave positive feedback and filled out excellent evaluations asking ELCIM for more workshops regarding the same subject matter.
